ThotWave has track record of creating successful solutions for healthcare providers, payers, public health organizations, and researchers. The following describes some of the ways we use our healthcare knowledge and technical competencies to turn existing information into thinking data® - data that is more coherent, more accessible, more usable, and more predictive.
Predictive Model for Patient Hospitalization Risk
Preventive care is widely seen as an area of high impact to health improvement and cost reduction. Focusing prevention resources on the right patients is key for effectiveness. ThotWave implemented a predictive model to identify patients at greatest risk of unplanned hospitalization, based on an integrated profile of general practice, outpatient, inpatient, and emergency department records.

Emergency Medical Services Quality Improvement
In partnership with the University of North Carolina Department of Emergency Medicine's EMS Performance Improvement Center, ThotWave created the Pre-Hospital Medical Information System (PreMIS) data warehouse of EMS (Emergency Medical Services) records. Information is used to facilitate quality improvement efforts via EMS Toolkit reports. Each toolkit measures performance in a care area such as cardiac arrest, stroke, or trauma by providing multi-faceted analysis of outcomes, peer benchmarking, and recommended improvement interventions. EMS information is gathered from agencies via web-based forms and XML data feeds that follow NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) standards.

Medicaid Claims Data Mart
For a private Medicaid administrator, ThotWave created a data mart of claims data for analysis of utilization and correlation of medical conditions. The data warehouse helped provide insights into potential fraudulent activity, input into pricing and helped medical practitioners design disease management programs for employers.
Web-based Disease Registry
For a large pharmaceutical company, ThotWave created and operated NRMI (National Registry for Myocardial Infarction), a web-based registry for patients with acute ST-segment-elevation Myocardial Infarction. The collaborative portal allowed researchers, physicians, and healthcare administrators access to information on patients and outcomes, giving them richer access to information that could change their patterns of care.
Biomedical Research Platform
For the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study (OHTS) at the Washington University in St. Louis Medical School, ThotWave helped create a clinical trials research platform. ThotWave's architecture and mentoring services began with a strategic roadmap which defined options and requirements for validation and CFR 21 Part 11 compliance. During development a ThotWave consultant partnered in the creation of web-based case report forms and facilities to analyze results, helping to grow the technical capability of university staff as the application was created.
Healthcare Asset Tracking for Emergencies
For the states of North Carolina and Mississippi, created the State Medical Asset Resource Tracking Tool (SMARTT) to allow state emergency management officials to maintain an inventory of beds, specialists, and other medical resources that are potentially needed for natural disasters, industrial accidents, and other mass casualty incidents. This application is in use by multiple states in the southern US.

Hospital Dashboards and Scorecards
ThotWave has created multiple dashboard and scorecard solutions for hospitals, enabling decision makers to track and drive improvements to operational effectiveness and clinical outcomes. From managing Core Measures and other Quality Measures to financial and operational measures like bed-turn over and average length of stay, we understand that dashboards and scorecards have to be actionable - turning data into action is what we do best.
Business Intelligence Roadmap
