Presenting SAS® Usage Information Using BI Tools

In simple and complex SAS® deployments, performance monitoring can help ensure ideal efficiency when using resources. With out-of-the-box deployments, this information can be difficult to extract and analyze. SAS® Application Response Measurement (ARM) enables you to collect a variety of metrics on how your SAS® environment is performing. While several resources explain how to implement ARM, there is a lack of information on how to analyze or report the information. This paper presents a series of examples using BI principles to gain insight on using resources in your SAS® BI environment. This insight can help you provide feedback to management, system administrators, and users. Whether the goal is to improve system performance, or monitor hardware in the scope of scaling resources for a growing BI environment, existing and underutilized SAS® monitoring tools can help sustain an efficient BI environment.
